Who are they

BT Local business is an organisation that supports a franchise network of companies who sell BT products exclusively. These franchisees are essentially sales offices, and as such operate in a competitive and fast moving environment.

Typically a franchise could see a staff attrition rate of over 50% in a given year, contributing to a higher cost of employment and training.

The challenge

To reduce the costs of induction training, increase the course attendance, and validate product and systems knowledge.

Given the costs to attend 5 days of off-site training (losing sales) and the high attrition rate (making franchisees reluctant to invest in training) the attendance at all levels of induction was poor.

Induction training is not just about the BT company, but also includes sales techniques and product knowledge. A better informed sales person sells better.

The solution

The solution was a mix of policy and software.

  • The policy would be introduced by BT, outlining how the training would take place and mandating attendance.
  • The software looked at how Academy Point could use its vast features to meet the requirements.

In order to deliver the requirements we developed and configured these functional pieces;

  1. The new learning campus, a 3D illustrated virtual environment, with “hot-spot” access to content
  2. Enable online chat, to facilitate remote trainer and trainee conversations
  3. Revisions of existing Learning Chapter content and layout
  4. A new user profile created specifically for induction trainees
  5. Management reporting to review the completed Induction learning
  6. Enabling managers to book their staff onto Induction training and monitor their progress in real-time
  7. Improved administration processes to support and configure the new functionality

We had a business challenge to reduce the cost of delivering Induction training for the Local Business. Academy Point, understood our position and offered solutions that would work for the business, give a great ROI and would also engage with our new recruits. It’s a great experience working on a successful project that is delivered on time and ultimately hits the business targets
